I spent two delightful months at Galata Arms which is a perfect home in Istanbul. I could see a little slice of the Bosphorus, I was close to Istiqlal street and I had friendly groceries nearby. The geese stand guard in the church's garden, followed by the cats. The children walk to school in the street below. The sun pours in the apt in the morning.
There is only the Adan whose style in calling to prayer is a little too flourished for my taste.

Galata View exceeded our expectations! It is a large, light, imaginatively furnished, well located apartment with stupendous views. Well worth the climb up the stairs to the fourth floor. The neighborhood has everything one could wish for – a small supermarket, a butcher, vegetable stands. The plaza around the Galata Tower has benches and cafes. Pedestrian zone Istiklal Caddesi and its side streets are filled with restaurants and shops. Transportation is close at hand – the funicular (Tunel) eliminates the need to walk up the hill from the Galata Bridge. Metehan is reliable and efficient. Transportation arrangements from and to the airport were perfect. Our 10 day stay in Istanbul was not nearly long enough to experience all this fascinating city has to offer. We hope to return and if we do, we will surely contact Metehan for our accommodation arrangements.

I'm afraid to tell what I really think, for fear the place will become so popular and constantly booked I'll never get to stay here again myself. But honesty must win out: if you've not been to Istanbul yet, go, and regardless of whether or not you've been to Istanbul before, stay here. A gracious and brilliantly located accommodation, and don't miss the Araci disk of Italian-composed 19th Century Ottoman classical music while you're gazing transfixed out the windows past the tower and along the Haliç. Highly recommended for absolutely everybody. (Unless you've signifncant mobility impairments, in which case I believe Metehan has more physically accessible properties available that, if they're at all like the Galata View, will enhance your visit to Istanbul immeasurably).

Dear Metehan,

We arrived safely home on Sunday evening after the wonderful time spent in Istanbul.
We would like to thank you for everything, Galata View was such a nice place to stay at and Istanbul a very enjoyable city; we didn't even get the chance to see and do all the things we intended because 7 days are defenitely not enough for a wonderful place like Istanbul.

Best Regards,

We stayed in Galata View for one week and the only thing we regretted about it was that one week was not enough! The apartment is spacious and full of light, with perfect views from all its windows. The Galata Tower is just around the corner, as well as groceries shops, a supermarket and everything else you may need, and Istiklal avenue with all its cafes, restaurants and shops is just two minutes walk.
We've become Istanbul maniacs during our stay, and we are certainly coming back soon. And during our next visit, the will be no such option as staying at a hotel - only Istanbul Sweet Home apartments!

We loved living in this flat. The views were spectacular. We overlooked the Boshporous on one side of the apartment, The Golden Horn on the other side, and directly before me loomed Sulimanye Camii. We found the apartment very spacious with lots of places for two people to spread out. The location is wonderful. It was a short downhill walk to Galata Bridge, and the funicular going up the hill to Tunel Square was also very convenient. We could easily walk to Taksim Square along Ishtiklal Caddesi. And we had no trouble walking across the Galata Bridge and then up into Sultanahmet, and all the attractions there. The bathroom and kitchen are not large, but perfectly functional, and the shower in the bathroom was very good. We found Metehan very helpful, and he came right away if we had any problems. We lived in this apartment for 6 weeks and loved every minute of it. We highly recommend this apartment.

from here in the thai jungle (where the insect orchestra is currently playing) im gazing fondly in the direction of metehan's mural-wrapped apartment boheme with windows spilling views of golden horn and ships plying the bosphorus, and every day begins with the sounds of fog horns and the melodic call of the muezzin, this one being a total ham, i think he was trying to get a recording contract, i miss it so...

Spacious and comfortable apartment with wonderful views. The location is excellent -- central but not noisy at all. A great experience! We really look forward to staying there again!
