Cafe Frappé is back!

Frappé Istanbul

One of my favourite cafes from late 1990’s in Beyoglu, Café Frappé, is back with its friendly faces Melih & Nevra.

They opened the Frappé again at No: 10/A,  Zambak St, Istiklal Ave / Beyoglu - Taksim

View of Bosphorus with top comfort

Would you enjoy a complete view of Bosphorus and loads of fresh air? How about enjoying them while having your breakfast or sunbathing and even taking a shower if you start to feel hot? Well, now the terrace of Istanbul Eye offers all these facilities!

Recently, we have noticed that the terrace had a magnificient view but lacking something. It’s quite a wide one and totally in open air. But during the summers, it gets so hot that you can’t enjoy this view long enough. However we have installed some lovely things that will turn this experience to an unforgettable one for you :). There are two new deck chairs where you can sunbathe and a big umbrella when you want to stay in the shadow. In addition to these, we installed a simple shower unit for you to cool down without interrupting your pleasant mood. Certainly we took a video of it, too :) Also visit the Istanbul Eye pages for a more detailed information and other videos.

Istanbul apartments equipped with water tanks

It’s a hot summer this year and we are starting to see the effects of the global warming very vividly! The water reserves in the dams in Istanbul have been decreasing dramatically and we are often told to be careful about using our water. It’s also possible to see water cuts from time to time although most of the time they are said to be of common fault.

But wait! Now you don’t have to worry about water cuts in our apartments anymore! :) Because all of our apartments in Istanbul are now equipped with water tanks and you are not going to have to worry about water cuts during your stay. Certainly we still ask you to be careful about using water since it’s a global problem but it’s a good feeling to know that you are supplied with enough water for 1-2 day water cuts.

We have also made a list of “Our Standards of Service in our Vacation Rentals” in case you might want to check.

The Story of Shooting a Video

This last Tuesday (17th of July), we visited the Galata View for the video shooting! It’s one of the most wonderful apartments in Istanbul that has a magnificient view of the Marmara sea, Bosphorus and Golden Horn. I must admit the weather was extremely hot but we were lucky to open windows to get some fresh Bosphorus air in :)

I had a chance to try out the new tripod I had bought for the video cam, too. And yes, it works really good for me :). Funny but I felt like a pro during the shooting. Anyway, the apartment is quite a big one and I had to take several shots for each room. But when I was working with my video software today, I realized I could hardly crop out some parts and eventually the whole video was almost over 10 minutes! This has too many handicaps. First for viewers: A 3-5 minute video is considered to be more watchable. Then for background music: It’s almost impossible for me to find one 10-minute track for the background and I hate to put 2 different tracks and put over “fade-ins” and “fade-outs” to perform a mix. Just for the info; Background track in the first video is from Loreena McKennitt (Marco Polo) and in the second video is from Shantel (Inel Inel De Aur)

Long story short, I divided the video into two parts, each one introducing different rooms. Below are the youtube embeds for you to watch. Please also visit the apartment’s web pages to see its photos and other pages that might interest you. See Videos

3,2,1… Go!

Finally, we have our blog online :) … So, what should you expect to find here…

First off, I have to explain the “we” maybe. We are 3 friends who are the apartment-owners (in Istanbul), managers (to manage our friends’ apartments) and a webmaster (me) and we rent our apartments for short and long stays. We renewed our website lately and I have been extremely busy during this process which is actually still going on. And now we have a blog, too :) So, let me remind you the big question: what should you expect to find here…

  • We are going to share moments from our lives, adventures, experiences and more…

  • We are going to write about what’s new in our site (www.istanbulsweethome.com)

  • We are going to write about Istanbul (simple things to turn your visit to Istanbul into a fabulous adventure)

All for now. Hope you enjoy our blog as much as our site :) It’s going to be an honour to host you in Istanbul…
