How about getting some massage?

Here we are talking about massage therapy to indicate that this is one of the oldest and most effective methods to cure a person through the body.

Massage is one of the oldest and most common techniques to treat each other. Touching each other is a non-verbal way of communication. It is the intention that turns a touch into a healing or into a painful experience. Every child makes this experience in his mother’s arms. (i.e. touch for health).
Besides that, therapeutical massage has the aim to heal through the body.

Tatjana Rottenberg uses the following techniques for massage:

  • Classical massage
  • Releasing techniques from Shiatsu
  • Trigger point massage
  • Reflexology
  • Fertility massage: for women who want a baby but are too much under stress to release and let things happen (only works, if the reason for infertility is not the husband of course, any serious health problem or a completely confused hormone system after years of hormone therapy).

Informed Walking Tours of the City

Istanbul ‘N’ Constantinople: Informed Walking Tours of the City

As an Oxford-trained historian, with a wide interest in the politics, history and culture of the Balkans and the wider Middle East, our consultant will walk (and talk) you through the city of Istanbul. Your walk will be designed according to your interests and predilections: stressing either, the historical, the cultural or the purely picturesque.

Widen the scope of your acquaintance with the City beyond the confines of Sultanahmet and the Blue Mosque. Discover the many flavours of Istanbul, strolling through the hustle and bustle of Tahtakale, visiting the mosque of Rüstem Pasha, or taking a leisurely stroll across the İstiklâl Caddesi (formerly known as la Grande rue de Péra) to experience sides of the City quite unknown to most tourists. Further afield, our walk could take you to such places as Tophane, Cihangir, Bebek, or Sarıyer on this shoreline. Or alternatively, you could venture across the Bosphorus and discover the Anatolian part of the City: from the picturesque Kadıköy with its lively fish market, over the lofty heights of Ottoman architecture present in Üsküdar and from there hop on the bus to Beylerbeyi, where a nineteenth-century summer palace and an eighteenth-century mosque constitute vivid reminders of the City’s history among the picturesque village which is the district of Beylerbeyi.

But there are so many more sights to behold that it would be impossible to list them all. If you are interested to find out more about Istanbul, its pre-Ottoman and Ottoman history and culture, and its current vibrancy then you should get in touch with Dr Can Erimtan at

We were there…”Ata’s Place” in Karaburun, Izmir.

Ata’nin Yeri, Lipsos, Yeni Liman, Karaburun

Last weekend, we, as 5-6 people, had a great time in Yeni Liman, Karaburun, Izmir.

The small boutique hotel we stay in can be checked at http://www.nisanyan.net/otl_view.asp?id=570&brMode=s1

Ata’nin Yeri, Lipsos, Yeni Liman, Karaburun

It is called Ata’s place and Mr. Ata and the fisherman Uncle Erol are the ones who make this place more special than anything else…

Words would not be enough to describe the food we had at each meal. They were totally composed of the bread that the see granted to Uncle Erol’s fishing net everyday and all were enriched by Ata’s special recipes.

Uncle Erol is a more than 72 years old, half Greek- half Turkish fisherman, originally from Istanbul and he has even a fan club at facebook !!! It is hard to explain how nice to listen his stories when he is drinking 3-4 glasses of raki every night and incredible to see that he jumps out of his bed every morning at 5-6 am to throw his net for the next meal…

The sea was just in front of our small house and our veranda.

It was just green behind us on the hills…you dont see around many of those ugly concrete buildings that started to cover the coasts of  Turkey

And, the music gatherings with the speacial participation of Mr.Incirci and the “Baglama” player Mr. Mustafa were breathtaking…

Thanks to all who made this holiday very special for us…
